Taub Law is a small but busy practice group in corporate/commercial and finance/lending fields, with a robust client roster focused in the entertainment and related technology industries. We are poised for substantial growth in multiple provinces soon as we embark on the creation of a national Canadian legal services firm.
We require a Corporate Lawyer with a strong strategic mind, business acumen, and exceptional people skills to guide both the overall strategic direction and growth of the business, as well as the management of its daily activities. Your expertise will assist in hiring great talent and earn Taub Law a reputation for excellence.

As our Corporate Lawyer, you will:
- Structure, review and negotiate a broad range of agreements such as media, entertainment, and intellectual property transactions including acquisitions, development, production, finance, talent, distribution, licensing, endorsements, strategic ventures, and collaborations.
- Work with clients spanning from start-ups to well-known international brands and established creators, influencers, producers, distributors, and entertainment businesses.
- Provide business-oriented and practical legal advice on a wide range of topics, including commercial contracts (with a focus on media and tv production), copyright, licensing, trademarks, and tax law.
- Run multiple projects as your team will see up to 20 projects on the go at a time.
- Negotiate and conclude commercial contracts with customers, partners, and vendors.
- Work on diverse items such as content production, licensing, and merchandising, monetizing intellectual property, digital media, interactive experiences, influencer and sponsorship deals, traditional entertainment, and NFTs.
- Work closely with our creative, marketing, production, and finance departments.
- Source/manage outside counsel for complex/out-of-scope matters.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Canada.
- 5+ years’ experience in corporate commercial, copyright, licensing, trademarks, tax law, IP and/or entertainment law (television, film, and digital industries).
- Experience closing loan transactions.
- Strong drafting and contract negotiation skills with close attention to detail.
- Well-versed in contract, copyright and trademark law, talent agreements, rights acquisitions, licensing, and distribution deals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - you can explain legal and business issues to non-lawyers.
- Ability to contribute to evolving business structures and deal models.
- Corporate experience is a bonus.
- Securities and Real Estate experience is also a bonus.
- Multi company experience an asset.
