STOKES LAW LLP - Edmonton Family Law Associate Wanted
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Family Lawyer who has litigation experience to join our legal team as a contractor on a fee-split model, preferably three (3) to five (5) years or more post-call experience.
As a Family Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients in various family law matters and assisting on existing files. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where we prioritize a team-based approach to files, with the ability to work remotely from anywhere.
Duties
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on family law matters, including divorce, parenting, high conflict litigation, ADR, support, and property division.
- Conduct legal research to support case preparation.
- Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with other lawyers and external professionals to develop effective legal strategies.
- Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and case precedents.
- Work collaboratively with a team.
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Strong writing skills to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Knowledge of legal drafting techniques to prepare accurate and effective legal documents.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice to clients.
- Be prepared to work on a fee-split model.
