SUMMARY
This position, for our client in the creative services industry, will be based either in their Paris headquarters, in London or in Montreal. The Legal Counsel will primarily be responsible for supporting the daily legal needs of their animation division. In this role, the lawyer’s primary responsibility will be supporting the legal requirements of the key revenue generating activities for this business, including drafting and negotiating the required legal documents relating to feature and episodic animated content.

This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel/Head of Legal of the animation business line based in Paris, with strong and direct interface with senior management based in LA, Paris, Montreal, and Bangalore, outside counsel, suppliers and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Fluency in English – knowledge of French is an asset
  • Degree in Business law is required; Masters degree in Entertainment Law is an asset
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience with a focus on negotiating and drafting commercial transactions in the media and/or entertainment industry, preferably including production services agreements
  • While not a requirement, the preferred candidate will have spent time in both a law firm setting and an in-house setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with both internal business and technical teams as well as external contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent judgment and strategic thinking on structuring transactions, solving complex problems, and developing solutions.
  • Ability to positively influence the behavior of multiple stakeholders.
  • Background and experience that will provide the ability to “hit the ground running”.
  • Client and service focus with the ability to work in a fast-moving, demanding environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and work autonomously on a wide range of tasks.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and trust, including in dealing with complex and sensitive matters.
