Are you a smart, capable lawyer who’s tired of being underused, over-supervised, or boxed in?
We’re a busy family law practice looking for someone who wants to roll up their sleeves, take ownership and grow. This is not a file-churning mill or a rubber-stamp environment. We serve real people with complex problems. We show up prepared, strategic and outcome-focused. So should you.
This is an opportunity to step into a practice that already has volume, support and systems, but still offers autonomy, challenge and the chance to do genuinely meaningful legal work.
What You’ll Actually Do
You’ll be doing substantive legal work from day one, drafting court materials, reviewing and organising financial disclosure, preparing for and attending at conferences or motions, and helping move cases forward. You’ll work closely with me and our experienced law clerk, who handles admin, filing, service, scheduling and client logistics so you can focus on the legal work.
The more initiative you show, the more responsibility you’ll take on.
You Might Be a Fit If You:
- Have a minimum of 2 years of family law experience, more senior candidates welcome;
- Write clean, logical, persuasive legal documents;
- Show empathy and professionalism in client interactions;
- Are organised, responsive, and not afraid to ask questions;
- Want to own your work, and not be micromanaged or be idle;
- Have high standards, but can adapt to someone else's style when needed; and
- Know the real limitation period is how long your coffee stays warm.

Compensation
We offer competitive compensation and benefits, tailored to experience and responsibility. The compensation model is flexible and based on your role and impact.
Work Format
You’ll have flexibility in how you structure your workday. We care about results, not punching a clock. The role can be primarily remote or in-person, depending on your preference. We’re open to what works best for you and the files you’re handling.
A Word from Me (Your Future Boss)
I’m looking for someone I can trust to get things done and think things through. You don’t need to be perfect, just sharp, reliable and ready to learn fast. If you're the kind of person who keeps files moving and clients informed, who doesn’t need your hand held every hour, and who wants to grow into a central role, we’ll get along well.
If you’re interested:
- A short note about your background and what you're looking for
- Your CV; and
- (Optional) A (redacted) sample of something you've drafted in family law.
We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis, so don’t wait.
