We’re looking for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join our Kidston team. This is a full-time position to join our growing team. This position is a Hybrid role. The successful candidate will live and work in the Okanagan and be willing to pop into the office a few times week. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of general litigation, Personal Injury Defense experience; good practice management skills.
Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers is a full-service law firm specializing in personal injury, estate litigation, insurance disputes, employment law, real estate and business law, and First Nations law. Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers is a leader in legal services in the Okanagan Valley. The lawyers of Kidston Helm Ross and our support staff bring honesty, trust, and respect to every interaction with our clients and to one another.
All our lawyers have independent conduct of a full case load of files and conduct their own examinations for discovery, applications, mediations and trials. Mentorship is provided through assisting senior counsel on larger more complex files and through informal meetings with senior legal counsel which provide insight, guidance and assistance as needed.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
- Member of the BC Bar in good standing
- Legally entitled to practice law in Canada
- Ability to run an organized caseload from beginning to end, with little to no supervision
- Previous trial experience
- Strong business acumen with verbal, negotiation, interpersonal and drafting skills
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team of professionals
- Ability to provide clear direction to others
- Excellent client service and communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Show discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential situations

THE PROCESS:
- The interview process includes:
- Remote 30-minute phone interview with Laurel Swan (she/her), HR Advisor.
- In person or remote 60-minute video interview with Laurel Swan (she/her), HR Advisor and Robert Ross (he/him), Managing Partner.
- Second in person or remote interview with Laurel Swan (she/her), HR Advisor and other lawyers in the firm
- Conduct reference and security checks.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000
Start Date: Flexible
