Position Overview: Kirschbaum & Co. is a boutique family law firm located in Ottawa, ON. Kirschbaum & Co. is seeking an experienced Family Law Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 5 years of experience in family law. Articling students may apply. This role requires a strong understanding of family law, and litigation, client management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Of upmost importance to us is that the candidate is passionate about family law, a team player and is willing to put in the time and effort to learn. We require a well-rounded associate, who brings a unique and personal perspective to their practice.

- Consultations with potential clients.
- Manage a diverse caseload of family law matters, including divorce, spousal and child support, property division, and domestic violence cases.
- Provide high-quality legal advice and representation to clients, ensuring their rights and interests are protected.
- Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law legislation and case law.
- Foster strong client relationships through regular communication and exceptional service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take on cases that are being heard on an urgent basis and meet all relevant deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in family law in Ontario (articles included).
- Strong knowledge of family law, including divorce, spousal and child support, and property division.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Be familiar with relevant statutes and regulations, including the Family Law Act, Children’s Law Reform Act, Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Family Law Rules, and Divorce Act.
- Have excellent drafting and communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Exceptional client management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary: $70,000 to $100,000 dependent upon qualifications, and excluding bonuses.
