MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS:

Your Responsibilities Will Include
As a Commercial Lead -Solicitor at Kainos, you will be responsible for performing multi-jurisdictional internal legal services within a leading commercially focused in-house legal team.
  • Performing full end to end legal services as directed by senior team members and have accountability as appropriate for standalone work.
  • Undertake the carriage and negotiation of complex IT contracts with a detailed understanding of the legal and commercial issues involved
  • Ability to understand and upskill in new and developing areas of law and support senior team members in the application and implementation of legal in the Kainos business.
  • Ability to advise on and undertake a wide range of complex and cross jurisdictional legal matters.
  • Ability to advise on and undertake legal work associated with corporate strategic projects.
  • Conduct, or act as support for External legal Counsel on contentious and litigious matters.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused advice to a range of stakeholders, maintaining a broad business acumen focus.
  • Undertaking risk analysis of proposed commercial ventures.
  • Reviewing tender documentation and bid process across the public and private sectors.
  • Devising and implementing legal aspects of Company policies and initiatives.
  • Ensuring company compliance with legal developments and recognise when to escalate legal compliance issues
  • Assisting Global Head of Commercial, General Counsel and CFO as required.

Minimum (essential) Requirements
  • Professionally qualified lawyer, with 5 years of relevant post qualification experience in a legal/advisory role.
  • Ability to identify and drive process improvements.
  • Capable of delivering pragmatic commercial advice.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills (appropriate to level of experience)
  • Conscientious, approachable, and credible.
  • Articulate, analytical, pragmatic, and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project and business dynamics.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate matters where necessary.
  • Ability to work efficiently and prioritise your workloads in a fast-paced environment, delivering a high level of accuracy and attention to detail within tight timeframes.
  • A self-starter who can work on their own initiatives with minimal supervision and escalate matters when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with both staff and external stakeholders.
  • We all work in teams here in Kainos –a proven ability of strong team skills, including leading junior members to effectively deliver tasks.
  • Highly flexible, including willingness to work flexible hours at peak times.

Desirable
  • Demonstrable general commercial/corporate/IT law experience.
  • Familiarity within some or all the following areas of law: IT/IP law, drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating commercial contracts, employment law and procurement law.
  • Experience in supervising, training or managing more junior team members.
