Position Summary:
KCLC is seeking a Eviction Prevention Lawyer for a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will focus on residential tenancies law. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing full representation to clients at Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) hearings
- Providing Tenant Duty Counsel services at the LTB
- Assisting with appellant litigation at Divisional Court
- Participating in law reform initiatives
- Delivering community legal education to promote tenant rights and prevent evictions
Qualifications:
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small office
- Strong advocacy, legal writing, and research skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
- High level of computer literacy
- Experience in public law litigation (e.g., appeals, judicial reviews) is an asset
