Rana Law is a boutique law firm based in western Canada, practicing exclusively in Aboriginal law on behalf of First Nations, with offices in Vancouver and Calgary. We are looking for a junior associate with at least 2 years of firm experience to join the Vancouver office for 12 months to cover a maternity leave. This position will begin in December 2022.

Key Responsibilities
You will support the firm’s legal team working on a wide range of legal matters, including treaty rights and land and resource management issues, Specific Claims negotiations, settlements and agreement implementations, land transactions, economic development opportunities, corporate structuring and trust agreements. You will research law, write memoranda, draft agreements, participate in negotiations, analyze complex studies, reports and policies and answer a myriad of questions from lawyers, historians, accountants, engineers, economists and most importantly, from clients, with a commitment to excellence, integrity and outstanding client service.

Qualifications
  • Superior legal research and writing skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience in aboriginal, environment, real estate and/or business law;
  • Ability and confidence to interact effectively with diverse groups and teams;
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to remote communities; and,
  • Proven commitment to team-work, excellence and social justice
