Forte Workplace Law is looking for Labour and/or Employment lawyers with 3 + years experience for our growing workplace law firm. Our ideal candidate has experience in labour, employment, workplace investigations, and/or human rights law.


As a firm, we advise workers, employers and unions. We do advisory work and represent clients in workplace related civil claims, and in matters before the Employment Standards Branch, Human Rights Tribunal, Worksafe BC and labour arbitrations/Labour Board matters. We also conduct mediations and workplace investigations, and provide respectful workplace and other training.

Our Ideal Teammate
• You are called to the bar in BC and/or AB with labour and/or employment law experience.
• You can run your own files (with support), so 3+ years experience is the minimum.
• We have no maximum experience in mind and welcome senior applicants.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, WorkSafeBC matters, employment law, labour law, human rights, conducting workplace investigations. Delivering respectful workplace training or other adult education training is an asset.
• For our Labour Applicants, you can independently manage grievance arbitrations and Labour Relations Board files, including representing clients at hearings, and are open to advising both employer and union clients in both BC and Alberta.
• To fit in here, you need to be a “people person” (introvert or extrovert is fine) with high emotional intelligence and fundamental respect for coworkers, clients and others in our community.

Your Skills
To excel in this role, you should have:
• A collaborative approach, working with lawyers and clients to develop legal strategies and solutions.
• Experience interacting respectfully with a diverse population, including fielding inquiries and gathering information.
• A curious nature, drive to take initiative, think things through and share your ideas.
• Proficiency with legal research tools.
• Solid tech skills, including advanced skills in MS Office and experience working with document management systems (NetDocs is an asset).

Compensation & Location
 Assuming full time work, our salary range is $120,000 to $200,000, which can be prorated for part time, plus bonus eligibility.
Forte Law’s main office is in South Surrey, and we also have offices in Vancouver and Calgary. We have proven, flexible work arrangements including hybrid and remote work.
