Job Summary:

We are seeking a Legal Intern to provide valuable assistance to a special project within the Treasury business. This will be a 3-4 month term role and is an excellent opportunity for a 2nd or 3rd-year law student to gain practical experience and contribute to a dynamic legal team.

**Please note that this role does not contribute to or lead to an articling position**

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Legal Counsel, legal colleagues, and treasury team members to gather data and convert it into valuable information that advances the project's objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on various legal matters as assigned by a lawyer.
  • Prepare concise memos or summaries of the research findings for effective communication.
  • Provide necessary administrative support to the legal team as required.

What you have:

  • Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd-year law student with strong research skills.
  • Preferably, have some experience in law or pre-law, specifically at a bank or credit union.
  • Demonstrated coursework or knowledge in the law of secured lending and personal property security registers is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with numbers, finance, and accounting principles are beneficial.
  • Exceptional ability to gather, analyze, and organize information from diverse data sources.
  • Proficient in consolidating findings into succinct memos or summaries, both in written and oral formats.
  • Well-developed analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
